Jupiter is in your opposing sign as you know, and this is a large reason why partnership matters are under the spotlight. Either there is a bleak horizon and a lack of the right ingredients in this area, or there are reasons why the ‘significant other’ needs more attention than usual.

In this time of world unrest it is probable that the stresses people carry into the personal area from the outer world will have an effect on atmosphere and union, unless there is greater empathy and harmony within the relationship dynamic. Cancerians who are single are usually so for a greater reason: maybe because their personal energies are pledged to a wider sphere, or to an outer cause which leaves little to spare for singular relationships. And if you fit the last bill then this is the time you will feel this perhaps as unfairness or basis for discontent.

So either you are in a relationship which is too restrictive, or you are prevented from developing relationship by other restrictions in daily life.

There is a pause between May and September for understanding and change. And it is after then that you know more concisely where your solutions lie.

The months of July and August are ones in which reality checks and glaring truths within every day life help you make decisions. In actual fact, the best way is to let decisions arrive naturally in their own way. By August and September you will have the comfort of greater freedom of choice, or at least the network by which this can be acquired.

Firstly though, at the beginning of May, there could be some tricky situation calling for doublespeak or very careful division of loyalty. And to ignore the delicacy of this and not skilfully negotiate the balance will lead to confusions or complexities at the end of that month. You may feel prone to keeping much of it to yourself, or of protecting classified information from wrongful exposure to ruthless judgement by others.

You are searching for something or somewhere specific, but you are not sure what it looks like. This can make you seem flakey or unreliable, so don’t make promises at the end of May or in the first three weeks of June, until you are back in touch with your truer instinct and able to do things for all the right reasons. When the sun enters your sign at the end of June you cannot help but be more yourself and act in character. From May onwards it’s the time to get serious about things which have been taken too lightly and have perhaps not been put into the proper perspective for progress to bring security. The climate in July is set to become one of greater sincerity of purpose all round. Free-loaders and time wasters exit stage left!

Autumn update

September will force indecisiveness to a close and call for a dextrous balancing act in personal and related subjects. Although you might be seen to be very popular this can be too much so for your own good. It can lead to overcommitment and the need for too much people-pleasing. The latter is sometimes unavoidable when the pace is too fast and the time too short. It is not always a case of being superficial; it becomes a matter of survival, but ... the habit is a hard one to break! And there in lies the danger.

With Jupiter opposing your own sign you will be finding opposition in the most unlikely places, and lurking nearby is that old devil betrayal. When we examine this last-named act we always find it is something that is wrought from the need to placate at least two diverse needs or causes.

As soon as the last week of September brings the second important Mercury retrograde motion this year you will begin to realize if and where you have sold either yourself or others short. And you will then be in a position to try to do something about it. Do your best by the middle of October, but don’t expect to see any lasting improvement until the first week of November.

When big things are going on the stakes always become high and meaningful. However much we rave about love and harmony, it is only acquired by firstly understanding the shadier side of the street.

Cancer has a history of wanting comfort and of going to the greatest lengths to achieve it - which is a paradox, because you have to emerge from your own comfort zone to navigate the lengths.

To chase after love and security now is the way of the vibration of cancer, but to do so at the expense of common sense is an error of judgement that can only be accounted for later and with some lamenting. Saturn in your third solar house since September last has shown you where your allies are, and closely attached to them are your loved ones. Your loved ones should be among your allies, in a perfect world, but are the two categories separate just now?

When Mars enters the other water sign of Scorpio in October there will be the test - followed closely by the proof - of all we have said in those two statements! The depth or gravity of loyalties and associations is revealed as the plans of the first four months of the year take on a new meaning and either solidify or present hopeless obstacles which threaten to abort the mission. There is a lot to be gained, and so there is a lot to be fought for, but with the lengthening days comes the confidence to trust and roll with the flow. What seems like a major gamble at first becomes just another process to be monitored. By the end of the year there can be an immovable arrangement in place between you and other interested parties. Just be sure you are on the same wavelength and take it from there.
